Nanea Kai is within walking distance of two beaches acknowledged to be among the best for swimming, snorkeling and surfing. To the west: Brennecke's Beach is closest to Nanea Kai, a three-minute walk. Noted as a great body surfing and body boarding beach, it's also a perfect place to relax and watch the action.

Poipu Beach Park is an additional two-minute walk past Brennecke's and offers several ocean options: a beach for young children with shallow calm conditions and a new playground, a swimming bay, and notable surfing and snorkeling areas beyond the park. The grassy park area is equipped with covered beach pavilions, showers, rest rooms, and tables for picnics and and outdoor barbecues. Lifeguards are on duty daily.
